Rangers And Devils Provide Another “Fight Night In New York” (Video)
It has been a while since Madison Square Gardens hosted a world class heavyweight fight in the ring, but they have hosted quite a few on the ice this season, thanks to the hostility that remains present in the rivalry between the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers.
When these two teams met at the Gardens on February 7, they kicked the game off with two simultaneous fights immediately following the opening face-off. During last night’s meeting both teams added another pair of fists into the mix, as all three forwards on the ice from each team dropped the gloves and went toe-to-toe with the man lined up across from them.
The opening face-off fight card looked like this:
- Stu Bickel vs. Ryan Carter
- Mike Rupp vs. Eric Boulton
- Brandon Prust vs. Cam Janssen
The result was 40 minutes in penalties, two angry coaches and a bloody ice surface. You can watch all of the mayhem unfold in the video below.
