Stat Line Of The Night — 3/22/12 — Bradley Beal
Stat Line Of The Night — 3/25/12 — Tyshawn Taylor
After averaging 17.3 points and 4.8 assists per game during the 2011-12 NCAA basketball season, Kansas’ Tyshawn Taylor struggled through the opening three rounds of the NCAA Tournament, averaging just 8.7 points and 3.3 assists in those games. Luckily for the Jayhawks, they had yet to run into a team ranked better than tenth in the first three rounds of the tournament, but that was set to change during their Elite Eight battle with North Carolina yesterday.
In order to beat the No. 1 ranked Tar Heels, the Jayhawks knew they needed a much better performance from Taylor, and they would get just that, as they senior guard had his breakout performance of the tournament. In addition to recording a game-high 22 points, Taylor would also add six rebounds, five assists and five steals. That impressive all-around performance would help Kansas earn the 80-67 victory and a trip to the Final Four, where they will meet Ohio State next Saturday. And in addition to a trip to New Orleans and a shot at the NCAA Tournament title, Taylor also earns himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, March 26, 2012.
