Stat Line Of The Night — 3/26/12 — Paul Pierce
Entering the 2011-12 NBA season, many had written off the Celtics as being too old and washed up. Well don’t look now, but suddenly those bunch of old guys are sitting tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for top spot in the Atlantic Division following last night’s 102-95 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. And they have the aging Paul Pierce to thank.
At 34-years-old, Paul Pierce looked more like a 24-year-old last night, as he was doing it all on the floor for his Celtics. In addition to posting a season-high 36 points, the All-Star forward also added 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocked shots in just over 38 minutes of play.
It has been an up-and-down season for the Celtics, but with plenty of veteran leadership on their roster, they could be one team that many other NBA clubs will want to avoid come playoff time. Pierce is just one of those veteran leaders and his performance last night earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, March 26, 2012.
