Stat Line Of The Night — 3/27/12 — Brian Elliott
Stat Line Of The Night — 3/28/12 — Kevin Love
While some may refer to Kevin Love as a “double-double machine,” it should be noted that the Minnesota Timberwolves forward doesn’t record just your average double-double, consisting of 15 points and 10 rebounds. That’s not Love’s style. Instead, he is more accustomed to producing the type of double-double that will light up the stat sheet.
Take last night’s game, for example, as Love recorded a double-double that accounted for nearly half of his team’s points and 40% of their rebounds. The Hornets simply couldn’t contain him, as his 40 points, 19 rebounds and four assists helped the Timberwolves escape with the 88-83 road victory.
If it wasn’t for the Timberwolves sub-par record, Love would likely be a top candidate for NBA MVP honors, as he has averaged 26.6 points, and 13.9 rebounds this season while recording a double-double in 44 of his 48 games played. Unfortunately for him, voters don’t look kindly on players who play on non-playoff teams. So for now, Love will simply have to settle for winning less prestigious honors, like “the Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
