Stat Line Of The Night — 3/29/12 — Josh Bailey
Last night’s game between the New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins featured plenty of offensive fire power, and while both teams provided a high-scoring game like we expected, it was a rather unexpected player that was factoring in on the majority of those goals.
If I told you that there was a total of eight goals in the game and Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and John Tavares all combined for a total of one point, you’d probably be surprised. And you would likely be even more surprised if I told you that Josh Bailey outproduced those three superstars by a landslide. Well that was exactly how things unfolded, as the Islanders’ center recorded two goals and three assists during his team’s 5-3 victory at the Nassau Coliseum.
Bailey now has 31 points in 75 games this season, but eight of those have now come in his last two games, both against the Penguins. I guess it’s too bad he can’t play the Pens every game of the season, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, March 29, 2012.
