I.K. Kim Misses One-Foot Putt For The Win, Loses Kraft Nabisco Championship In Playoff (Video)
You can now place I.K. Kim’s name among the likes of Jean Van de Velde, Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman, as she became the latest golfer to suffer a devastating collapse while seemingly on the verge of winning the first major title of her career at the Kraft Nabisco Championship on Sunday.
Facing a one-foot putt for the victory – an easy shot for the average person, let alone a professional golfer – Kim watched her ball ride around the edge of the cup before lipping out on the same side it entered, as if the hole was simply spitting the ball and her championship hopes right back at the 23-year-old Korean golfer. It was a devastating miss that Kim was unable to overcome, as she would lose to Sun Young Yoo on the first playoff hole.
Kim did receive $182,000 for finishing in second, and while that may sounds like a great consolation prize, it is still $118,000 less than the $300,000 she could have received had she made that easy tournament-clinching putt.
Here is a look at the missed one-foot that will likely be replayed over and over in Kim’s nightmares.
