Stat Line Of The Night — 4/1/12 — Rajon Rondo
There were rumors swirling prior to the NBA trade deadline that the Boston Celtics were looking to unload Rajon Rondo, and if they follow that game plan during this summer’s off-season, they shouldn’t have a problem finding him a new home. After all, who wouldn’t want a player capable of recording a triple-double while leading his team to a victory over the Miami Heat?
The Celtics entered yesterday’s contest on a four-game winning streak, and they would extend it to five, thanks in large part to a 16 point, 11 rebound, 14 assist effort from Rondo. It was his league leading fifth triple-double of the season and it was just what the Celtics needed, as they cruised to the 91-72 blowout victory.
The victory could be viewed as somewhat of a statement, as the Celtics continue to climb the standings and they are currently playing their best ball of the season with the playoffs approaching. Much of that has to do with the play of Rondo, as his performance last night helped his team earn yet another victory while earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, April 1, 2012.
