Ramires Misses Open Net From Inches Away During UCL Match With Benfica (Video)
With Chelsea leading by a score of 1-0 during the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match-up against Benfica earlier today, Brazilian midfielder Ramires had a glorious opportunity to put the Blues up 2-0 and essentially clinch the English club’s birth in the semi-finals…
…And he failed horribly.
After watching a pass from Salomon Kalou get past the goalkeeper and roll across the face of the empty goal, Ramires completely botched the tap-in, as he somehow directed the ball away from the goal before falling into the back of the net.
Benfica would eventually score the equalizer, but Chelsea would add another goal late, earning the 2-1 victory and advancing via a 3-1 score on aggregate. Luckily for them, this embarrassing miss didn’t prove to be a costly one.
