The Daily Gambling Fix — 4/4/12 — Jeri Lee
The Game: St. Louis Cardinals @ Miami Marlins
The Reason: The Cards and the Marlins open the 2012 MLB season by playing the first ever game at Marlins Park in Miami, and we expect them to treat the fans in attendance to a high-scoring game. Josh Johnson is one of the league’s best starters, but he is coming off shoulder surgery and his innings could be limited as he works his way back to full strength. These teams have combined for at least seven runs in each of Lohse’s last five starts against the Marlins, and each of Johnson’s last four starts against the Cards. Six of the last eight meetings between these two teams have gone over the total. Look for another high-scoring game to unfold tonight.
The Game: Tampa Bay Lightning @ Montreal Canadiens
The Reason: The Lightning have won five of their last seven overall, while the Canadiens have lost their last four straight, seven of their last eight overall, and seven of their last 10 at home. The Lightning no longer have anything to play for, as they have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, but they still have Steven Stamkos in their line-up. The NHL’s leading goal-scorer will be looking to reach the 60-goal mark for the first time in his career, and with Habs’ goaltender Carey Price sitting this contest out with a head injury, we expect Stamkos to get his 59th and 60th goals as the Lightning emerge victorious in Montreal.
2012 Record: (60-59-6), This Week: (2-2), Last Week: (8-1-1)
