Stat Line Of The Night — 4/9/12 — Barry Zito
Stat Line Of The Night — 4/10/12 — Jayson Werth
After enduring an incredibly disappointing season during his first year with the Washington National in 2011 (.232 avg, 58 RBIs), Jayson Werth certainly didn’t want to head down that road again in 2012. It appeared as though he may have been doing just that following his first four games of the season, as he had recorded only one hit, one run and one RBI over that period of time, but he managed to turn things around in a big way last night, as he added to all of those season totals.
Werth stepped up to the plate five times against the New York Mets on Tuesday, and he recorded four hits, two RBIs and one run. Those numbers helped the Nats hand the Mets their first loss of the season, as they earned the 6-2 road victory over their division rivals.
In one game Werth was able to equal or surpass several of his totals on the season, including hits, runs and RBIs. He also helped the Nats improve their record to 3-2 on the season, and as a result, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
