Stat Line Of The Night — 4/17/12 — Carmelo Anthony
With a playoff spot on the line, Carmelo Anthony continue to do everything in his power to carry the New York Knicks towards a post-season birth, and last night that meant putting up one of his best statistical performances of the season against the Boston Celtics.
Heading into the game, Anthony had averaged 31.7 points per game during the month of April, and he improved that average, as well as a few others, with his triple-double performance at Madison Square Garden. In 40 minutes of action, the All-Star forward recorded 35 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals, as the Knicks held off the Celtics in the second half, en route to the 118-110 victory.
With the win, the Knicks now find themselves sitting in seventh-place in the Eastern Conference, 2.5 games clear of the eighth-place Milwaukee Bucks with only five games remaining. That should be enough of a cushion to get them into the post-season, and once they get there, they will need more performances like this one from Anthony, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
