Ramires’ Incredible Chip Shot Goal Helps Chelsea Advance To UCL Finals (Video)
We have gotten awfully used to seeing Lionel Messi chip the ball over opposing keepers and into the back of the net, but this time around Messi and his Barcelona side found themselves on the wrong end of such a wonderful display of brilliance.
Following goals from Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, and a red card to John Terry, Barcelona found themselves leading 10-man Chelsea by a score of 2-0 in the game, and 2-1 on aggregate. It appeared to be the beginning of the end for Chelsea’s bid for a spot in the Champions League Final…
…and then suddenly during first half injury time, this happened.
This incredible chip shot goal by Ramires tied the aggregate at 2-2 and gave Chelsea the advantage with the lone away goal. Their defense would follow that up with a flawless second half performance and Fernando Torres would add another goal during second half injury time, as the English giants earned the 3-2 victory on aggregate and booked themselves a spot in Munich for the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final on May 19.
It was a shocking victory for Chelsea, especially when you consider the fact that the player responsible for scoring the deciding goal couldn’t even score a tap-in on an open goal during a Champions League Quarterfinal match earlier this month. Don’t expect Chelsea fans to ever mention that blunder again following Ramires’ heroics today.
