The Daily Gambling Fix — 4/26/12 — Christine Marie LeMaster
The Game: Ottawa Senators @ New York Rangers
The Reason: After going over the five-goal total in Game One of their best-of-seven series, the Sens and the Rangers have not gone over the total since, with three pushes and two unders in their last five games. Game Sevens are always a good bet to go under the total, as both teams often find themselves playing tight and sitting back defensively while they wait for their opposition to make the first mistake. We saw that last night, as the Bruins and the Caps combined for only three goals. We expect to see a similar low-scoring result tonight at Madison Square Garden.
The Game: New Jersey Devils @ Florida Panthers
The Reason: The Devils stayed alive in their first-round best-of-seven series against the Florida Panthers following an overtime victory at home during Game Six on Tuesday. If they want to advance to the next round, they’ll have to win Game Seven on the road, but as we have seen throughout this year’s playoffs, winning on the road isn’t as hard as it used to be. Through the first 46 games of the 2012 NHL Playoffs, road teams are 29-17. Look for the Devils to add another win to that total tonight, as they advance to the second round with a crucial Game Seven road victory tonight.
2012 Record: (74-73-8), This Week: (3-2-1), Last Week: (5-5)
