The Daily Gambling Fix — 5/1/12 — Jeska Vardinsky
Here are some of the best sports plays for all you gamblers out there.
The Game: New Jersey Devils @ Philadelphia Flyers
The Reason: The NHL playoffs usually bring out the best in a team’s defense and goaltending, but in the case of the Philadelphia Flyers, it has brought out the worst. In their first seven playoff games, the Flyers have allowed at least three goals in six of those contests. They have given up a total of 29 goals in those seven games (average of 4.1 per game), and they have also scored at least four goals in five of their seven playoff games, while averaging 4.9 goals scored per game. Look for them to score more than a few goals against the Devils, while allowing more than a few as well, as this game goes over the total.
The Game: Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks
The Reason: The Celtics were without Ray Allen for the opening game of their series against the Atlanta Hawks, and they lost by a score of 83-74. Tonight they will be without the services of starting point guard Rajon Rondo, who is serving his one-game suspension, so things should only get tougher for Boston. The Hawks have won five of their last six at home, and six of their last seven overall. They have also beaten the Celtics in five of their last seven at home. Look for the Hawks to take advantage of the Celtics’ depleted roster, as they come away with the victory, and the cover, tonight.
