The Daily Gambling Fix — 5/7/12 — Carol
The Game: Washington Capitals @ New York Rangers
The Reason: With the best-of-seven series between the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers tied at 2-2, tonight’s Game 5 battle could make-or-break either team’s chances at a Stanley Cup parade. These two teams have not gone over the total in each of their first four games of the series. In fact, they have not gone over the five-goal total in any of their last seven meetings. Lundqvist is sporting an impressive 1.68 ERA in the playoffs, while Braden Holtby isn’t far behind, with a 1.94 ERA. Look for both goaltenders to stand tall during tonight’s pivotal Game 5 match-up, as this game goes under the total.
The Game: San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz
The Reason: The San Antonio Spurs have dominated the Utah Jazz through the first three games of this series, as they have won all of those games by a combined 58 points. That averages out to nearly 20 points per game. The Spurs have covered the spread in each of their three post-season games, and dating back to the regular season, they are 12-0-1 against the spread over the course of their last 13 games. With an older roster, you can bet Gregg Popovich will have his men ready tonight, as a series sweep would give them some much-needed rest. Look for San Antonio to continue their dominance of the Jazz, as they escape with the win and the cover.
