The Game: San Francisco Giants @ Los Angeles Dodgers

The Pick: Giants +112

The Reason: Tim Lincecum takes the mound for the Giants against Chad Billingsley of the Dodgers this evening at Dodger Stadium. While Lincecum has been an unexpected disappointment to his fantasy owners so far this year, he has been a victim of bad luck. He struggled mightily early in the season, and a lot of that was caused by him surrendering so many line drives, like his game against the Phillies on April 16, in which he gave up a whopping eight of them. Over his last two starts, however, Lincecum has only given up 3 line drives in total, while inducing 18 ground balls, which would show that teams have stopped hitting the ball off of him as hard as they were before when he was pitching poorly.  The Dodgers started off the season on a hot streak but are only 5-5 in their last 10 games, and Matt Kemp’s power has cooled off considerably, as he has yet to hit a home run in May.  Look for Lincecum to have a solid start, and the Giants to get a win tonight in Los Angeles.

The Game: Colorado Rockies @ San Diego Padres

The Pick: Rockies +114

The Reason: Christian Friedrich will have his MLB debut for the Rockies tonight against the young Anthony Bass of the Padres.  Friedrich has been a highly touted prospect of the Rockies farm system for a while now, and his ability to get a lot of strikeouts while limiting his walks (6.75:1 strikeout to walk ratio) will help him to navigate through the Padres’ weak lineup.  The Rockies may have been struggling recently, but Friedrich will give them the chance to break out of that slump.  Anthony Bass struggled in his last start, giving up 6 earned runs, has only one win on the season, and lost to the Rockies earlier in the year.  Look for the game tonight to be relatively low scoring as it is being held in the cavernous Petco Park, and for the Colorado Rockies to end their slump on the road with a win from a strong performance by Friedrich.
