Harvard Baseball Team Sings, Dances to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” (Video)
If you head on over to YouTube and do a search for “call me maybe,” in addition to the official video from Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen, you’ll also see several hundred videos of people lip-synching to the embarrassingly catchy tune. I’m not sure why this is such a phenomenon, but there’s even one featuring Selena Gomez and fellow Canadian Justin Bieber.
Well, apparently the smawtties on the Harvard baseball team decided they wanted to get in on the act, too. Only they decided to make their “Call Me Maybe” lip-synch video a prank on a teammate who’s fallen asleep on the team van.
The video starts out with one guy sitting in the back row of the van mouthing the words to the opening of the song while one of his teammates sleeps right beside him. But with every refrain and new verse, more guys pop up and join in the lip-synching.
Oh, right, and there is choreographed hand dancing, too. Here, have a look for yourself:
You lose sight of the sleeping guy toward the end of the video, but at the 2:33 mark you can see he’s still sound asleep.
All in all, I guess it’s a pretty fun prank. Though, personally, I don’t know if I would be willing to dance and pretend to sing “Call Me Maybe” in front of the whole world just to goof on a buddy. Hell, I’m annoyed that I had to write this article—this song is going to be in my head all day now.
