Here are some of the best sports plays for all you gamblers out there.

The Game: Tampa Bay Rays @ New York Yankees

The Pick: Under 8 -120

The Reason: David Price will be taking the mound for the Rays against the Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia tonight in Yankee Stadium. While the odds favor the Yankees (-150), this game should be a lot closer than what those odds imply. In his last two starts, Sabathia has pitched 16 innings, surrendering only 4 earned runs while striking out 13. To say that he’s on a roll would be an understatement, as he has won his last four starts….

To say that he’s on a roll would be an understatement, as he has won his last four starts.  David Price is coming in with similarly fantastic numbers: over his last three starts, he has pitched 23 1/3 innings, giving up only 3 earned runs and striking out 24 in that span.  Price has also won his last four starts.  Both of these pitchers are coming into this game hot, and it looks like tonight will be an excellent pitcher’s duel.  Look for the game to be close the whole way, and for Sabathia and Price to keep the total score under eight runs.

The Game: Detroit Tigers @ Oakland Athletics

The Pick: Detroit -118

The Reason: Max Scherzer is scheduled to start for the Tigers against the ageless Bartolo Colon of the Athletics tonight in the Oakland Coliseum.  Max Scherzer got off to a rough start on the season, but it seems like he has turned it around, as he managed to pitch past the sixth inning – something he had not accomplished yet – in his last start, striking out 9 over 7 innings of work, while only giving up 1 earned run.  Before that start Scherzer had been struggling to keep the ball down, and had been giving up a lot of fly balls and line drives.  It looks like he has realized what he was doing wrong and has started to return to his much more dominant self of the previous season.  Bartolo Colon has had a hot start to the season, but just about everyone knows it is not going to last.  Colon has been surrendering anywhere between 8-10 fly balls per game, and that had not hurt him until last game, when he surrendered 3 home runs.  Look for that trend to continue, for Colon to struggle and Scherzer to pitch another quality game, leading the Tigers to a win.
