Cristiano Ronaldo Tells CNN He Is Better Than Lionel Messi (Video)
It the eyes of most, there appears to be little debate as to who the better soccer player is between Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. Messi has won five La Liga titles to Ronaldo’s four league titles (three in England and one in Spain), and three UEFA Champions League titles to Ronaldo’s one. Messi has also been named the World Player of the Year by FIFA on three occasions, while Ronaldo has received that honor only once.
If you want to use the “what have you done for me lately” argument when evaluating these two World Class footballers, look no further than Messi’s record-breaking 50 goals in 37 La Liga matches, and 72 goals in 59 European Club competitions during his 2011-12 campaign.
You’d think numbers like that would be enough to convince anyone that Messi is the better player at the moment, but the higher goal totals and more impressive trophy case still doesn’t appear to be enough to convince Cristiano Ronaldo that he is only the second-best footballer in Europe at the moment.
At least that is what the Portuguese forward told CNN during a recent interview. You may not agree, but don’t let that stop you from checking out Ronaldo’s egotistical self-endorsement in the video below.
