Stat Line Of The Night — 5/21/12 — Zach Parise
After dropping Game Three at home to the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils were in desperate need of a Game Four victory in order to avoid heading back to Madison Square Garden down 3-1 in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final series. And in order to earn that much-needed victory, the Devils would needed to score some goals against Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. Doing so hasn’t been easy thus far, as they had managed to score just three goals through the first three games of the series, but with Zach Parise leading the way, they would surpass that total in Game Four.
After Bryce Salvador opened the scoring eight minutes into last night’s game, the Parise scoring parade would begin, as he assisted on the Devils’ second goal, while scoring their third and fourth during an important 4-1 Game Four victory. His three point effort gives him a total of 12 points in the playoffs – good enough for seventh in post-season scoring – and it also earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, May 21, 2012.
