Stat Line Of The Night — 5/24/12 — Dan Haren
Dan Haren hasn’t been having much success on the mound this season, as he had managed to record just one win in his nine starts heading into last night’s game against the Seattle Mariners. With a 1-5 record and a 4.37 ERA, his numbers showed little resemblance to those he put up during the 2011 season, when he went 16-10 with a 3.17 ERA. It may not be too late for him to duplicate his 2011 totals, but if he does hope to accomplish that feat, his performance during last night’s game against the Seattle Mariners should help his cause.
Haren gave the Mariners few opportunities to get a bat on the ball, as he struck out 14 batters while allowing only four hits and zero walks during nine shutout innings on the mound. His 126-pitch effort allowed him to record his first complete game of the season, as the Angels handed Seattle a 3-0 loss.
With the win, Haren now improves his record to 2-5 with a 3.76 ERA. He may not be back to his 2011 form just yet, but his performance last night does earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 24, 2012.
