Chef Gordon Ramsay Stretchered Off During Charity Soccer Match (Video)
Chef Gordon Ramsay may strike fear into the eyes of most in the kitchen, but he doesn’t seem to evoke the same level of fear on the soccer pitch. One man who made it quite clear that he was not intimidated by Ramsay was former English international Teddy Sheringham, as he dropped the Hell’s Kitchen star with a hard tackle during Soccer Aid 2012.
Soccer Aid 2012 is a charity event that pits celebrities and former players from England against those from the rest of the world. As a Scotsman, Ramsay was on the “Rest of the World” team, and after receiving the ball just inside the opposition’s half, he was chopped down by the former Manchester United striker, who may have forgotten that this was a charity event, and not a heated 1999 UEFA Champions League Final match against Bayern Munich.
Ramsay remained on the pitch for several minutes before being stretchered off and taken to the hospital. He has since been released and is recovering from what he described as a back injury.
Here is a look at how it all unfolded.
