White Sox Announcer Hawk Harrelson Loses It On Umpire Mark Wegner (Video)
There has been no shortage of bad calls throughout the first two months of the 2012 MLB season, and we may have been treated to yet another one earlier today when the Tampa Bay Rays played host to the Chicago White Sox.
During yesterday’s meeting between the two teams, White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski made a rather questionable slide into Ben Zobrist’s leg while attempting to break up a double-play at second base. The Rays didn’t retaliate then, but they did send a message to Pierzynski during today’s match-up, as starting pitcher Alex Cobb beaned the White Sox catcher in the back during the third inning. One inning later, it was the White Sox seeking revenge. Or, at least, that is how umpire Mark Wegner saw it, as he ejected White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana after he threw a pitch behind the legs of Zobrist in the fourth inning.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura was ejected for arguing the call, but it wasn’t his reaction to the incident that has everyone talking. Instead, it is the reaction of Chicago announcer Ken “Hawk” Harrelson that has been making headlines, as he sounded off on Wegner with the following must-see rant.
Check it out.
