Stat Line Of The Night — 5/31/12 — Carlos Gonzalez
On Wednesday night, Carlos Gonzalez recorded his first career three-home-run game while going 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs. That performance was enough to earn him the “Stat Line of the Night” on that occasion, and he was back at it one night later during the Colorado Rockies’ series finale against the Houston Astros.
Gonzalez didn’t record three more home runs last night, but he did record one homer and a double while going 3-for-4 at the plate, with three runs, three RBIs and a walk. It was yet another big offensive performance for both Gonzalez and the Rockies, as the left-fielder led the charge once again during Colorado’s 11-5 victory over the Astros.
While Wednesday night’s performance helped Gonzalez move into the National League’s top ten in batting average, home runs and RBIs, his performance last night moved him even further up those lists, as he now ranks fifth in the NL in batting average, and second in both home runs and RBIs. Stats like that could earn him plenty of recognition for MVP voting at the end of the season, but for now he earns his second consecutive “Stat Line of the Night,” with this one coming on Thursday, May 31, 2012.
