Stat Line Of The Night — 6/7/12 — LeBron James
Heading into last night’s must-win Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat seemed to have everything working against them. Not only were they on the road in Boston, where they had already lost Games 3 and 4 of the series, but they had also lost 15 of their last 16 games at the TD Garden, and they were in the midst of a three game losing streak after winning the first two games of the series.
But despite all of the aforementioned negative factors they were facing heading into Game 6, they still had one positive working for them, and he goes by the name of LeBron James.
James has already earned regular season MVP honors, and his performance last night helped keep his hopes of a playoff MVP award and NBA championship alive, as he recorded 45 points, 15 rebounds and five assists during the Heat’s 98-79 victory. He did most of his damage in the opening half, as his 30 points during the first 24 minutes of the game helped Miami enter the break with a 13-point lead, and they never looked back from there.
With the win, the Heat will now travel home to the American Airlines Arena for a do-or-die Game 7 on Saturday. If they win, they earn a trip to the NBA Finals for the second season in a row. If they lose, it will be another unsuccessful season for Miami’s “Big Three.” In order to avoid the latter, they will need a big performance from LeBron. He provided them with just that during Game 6, and as a result, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, June 7, 2012.
