Stat Line Of The Night — 6/14/12 — LeBron James
Kevin Durant emerged victorious during round one of the NBA Finals battle between two of the leagues best players. During round two last night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, it was LeBron James’ turn to exact some revenge.
Much like Game One on Tuesday, the Miami Heat jumped out to a sizable lead early, but unlike Tuesday’s game, they wouldn’t be surrendering said lead on this occasion. James made sure of that, as he led Miami with a team-high 32 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. He helped get his team out to an early 18-2 lead in the opening quarter and they were up by 12 at the half, but unlike in Game One, they were able to hold off a late charge from the Thunder and earn the important 100-96 victory.
With the win, the Heat will now return home to the American Airlines Arena for the next three games with the series tied 1-1. It is a much more favorable position for the Eastern Conference champs than being down 2-0 heading back home, and they had to hand the Thunder their first home loss of the playoffs in order to put themselves in such a position. LeBron James’ performance was a key factor in accomplishing such a feat, and he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, June 14, 2012.
