This Ridiculously Gruesome Beach Soccer Injury Is Not For The Faint Of Heart (Video)
The European Championship (of regular soccer) may only come around ever four years, but every single summer teams representing countries all over Europe compete in the Euro Beach Soccer League, or the EBSL. And every year, when it’s all said and done, the top five teams in the league qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Now, I’d make fun of the Euro Beach Soccer League, but here in North America we have Arena Football. So I think that old saying about “not throwing stones if you live in a glass house” applies. Besides, these guys are actually gifted athletes, and they take their sport very seriously.
How else could you explain the ridiculously gruesome injury you’re about to see?
Warning: the following video might make you hurl.
This is from an EBSL match last week between Spain and Portugal. The injured party is poor Bruno Torres of Portugal. As you can see, he was accidentally kicked in the knee by Spain’s Javi Torres (no relation, obviously), and…um…well, I don’t know what happened there, but I do know that a human knee is not supposed to look like that.
Of course, the reaction from the opposing players says it all, doesn’t it? The Spaniards run to Bruno Torres’ aid after he goes down, but every one of them immediately turns away in horror. Hell, a couple of them are even crying—never a good sign.
