The Game: Toronto Blue Jays @ Milwaukee Brewers

The Pick: Over 9.5

The Reason: Two of the league’s highest scoring offenses cap off their three game series today when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Toronto Blue Jays.  Both of these teams are ranked in the MLB’s top ten in runs scored, with the Jays sitting in fourth and the Brewers in tenth.  They are even more impressive when it comes to hitting home runs, as the Jays rank second in the league, while the Brewers are tied for seventh (and second among all National League teams).  Milwaukee has also given up the fifth-most runs in the Majors, while the Jays’ pitchers are tied with the Padres for most walks issued.  With both starting pitchers sporting ERA’s above 4.00, and each of their last four meetings going over the total, look for runs to come in bunches once again as this game goes over the 9.5-run total.

The Game: Minnesota Twins @ Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pick: Pirates -125

The Reason: With a 35-31 record, the Pittsburgh Pirates are one of baseball’s biggest surprises this season.  They have been especially good at home, where they are 20-11 and have won each of their last five games.  Pittsburgh is 15-7 in their last 22 games, and they will be taking on a Twins team that ranks last in the American League with a 26-40 record.  Tonight’s starter for the Twins, Francisco Liriano, is 1-7 on the season with a 6.44 ERA.  Don’t expect him to turn things around tonight, as he and the Twins suffer another loss, this time at the hands of the Pirates.

2012 Record: (109-111-11), This Week: (2-2), Last Week: (5-4-1)
