The Daily Gambling Fix — 6/22/21 — Rali Ivanova
The Game: Germany vs. Greece
The Reason: The Germans entered the 2012 European Football Championships as a favorite to win it all, and after cruising through the “Group of Death” with wins in each of their three games, they will actually face off against their easiest opponent of the tournament during their quarterfinal match today. Greece squeaked through the Group stage with a 1-1-1 record in what most considered to be the easiest group in the tournament, Group A. Now they will face their toughest test of the tournament, by far, and they will do so without the services of their captain – and arguably their best player – Giorgos Karagounis. Greece will try to use a defensive, counter-attacking style to pull off this upset, but I just don’t see it happening against this extremely talented German side. Look for Germany to score first, and that should open Greece up, leading to many more German goals during what I expect to be a blowout victory for Joachim Low’s squad.
The Game: Toronto Blue Jays @ Miami Marlins
The Reason: Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero may be sporting a rather unimpressive 4.28 ERA this season, but that hasn’t seemed to hurt the Jays’ chances of earning a victory whenever he takes the mound. In 14 starts this season, he is 7-1 and the Jays have won each of the last four games he has taken the mound. As for the Marlins, they currently find themselves in the midst of a slump, having lost seven of their last eight overall, and eight of their last nine at home. They have also lost five of their six home games against American League teams this season. Look for the Jays to get this three-game series started with a victory tonight.
2012 Record: (110-112-11), This Week: (4-4), Last Week: (5-4-1)
