The Game: Detroit Tigers @ Tampa Bay Rays

The Pick: Rays -120

The Reason: Both the Rays and the Tigers enter tonight’s game in the midst of slumps, but we expect the Rays to be the team that breaks out of it tonight.  James Shields will be on the mound for the Rays tonight, and he is 7-4 on the season with a 3.99 ERA.  The Rays have also won in four of his last five starts against the Tigers.  Detroit will be sending Max Scherzer to the mound, and in addition to sporting a poor 5.12 ERA, his Tigers have failed to earn a victory in any of his three career starts against Tampa.  The Rays are 18-9 at home against the AL, while the Tigers are 14-17 on the road against the AL.  Look for the Rays to start the series off with a victory tonight.

The Game: Cincinnati Reds @ San Francisco Giants

The Pick: Reds +120

The Reason: The Reds enter tonight’s game having won five of their last six against the San Francisco Giants.  Tonight they send starting pitcher Johnny Cueto to the mound, and he has won earned the victory in each of his last four starts, allowing one earned run or less in three of those games.  He has also won in each of his last two starts against the Giants.  As for San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner, his team has lost in each of his three career starts against the Reds.  Look for Cincinnati to ride a strong performance from Cueto to another victory tonight.
