Stat Line Of The Night — 7/1/12 — Spain
Stat Line Of The Night — 7/2/12 — Garrett Jones
When the 2012 MLB season kicked off in April, no one expected to see the Pittsburgh Pirates competing for top spot in the National League Central Division. Fast forward three months later to last night. Not only did the Pirates own an impressive 42-36 record, but they were also just one game back of the NL Central leading Cincinnati Reds.
Garrett Jones would help ensure that the Pirates stayed only one game back of the Reds, while moving into the top Wild Card spot, as he put on quite the performance at the plate during Monday’s game against the Houston Astros. Garrett stepped to the plate five times and he made good on four of those appearances, recording two singles, a double and a home run. The Pirates’ first baseman would finish the night with four hits, three runs and four RBIs, leading his team to a dominating 11-2 victory, while earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, July 2, 2012.
