This Horse And Carriage Will Lead Anze Kopitar’s Stanley Cup Parade In Slovenia
A Slovenian had never won the Stanley Cup before, but that all changed when Anze Kopitar’s Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Finals a little less than a month ago.
Kopitar is not only the first Slovenian to ever win the Stanley Cup, but he is also the first to ever play in the NHL. And today, he became the first to bring the Cup back to his home country, as it made the trip from Russia (where it was with Slava Voynov and Andrei Loktionov) to Jesenice, Slovenia to take part in a parade through Kopitar’s hometown.
And speaking of parades, guess who will be leading the way for Kopitar and the Stanley Cup during its journey through the streets of Jesenice? If you said “Hrušica the Horse,” you’re right, according to Anze’s Twitter account:
