Stat Line Of The Night — 7/10/12 — Giants’ All-Stars
Whichever team ends up representing the National League in this year’s World Series will probably want to thank the San Francisco Giants. After all, it was the solid performance from three of the Giants’ all-star representatives that helped the National League earn the 8-0 victory during last night’s midsummer classic, thus earning the NL World Series representative home field advantage.
We’ll start with Giants’ third baseman Pablo Sandoval, whose first innings bases loaded triple helped the NL jump out to a 3-0 lead. And then there was Giants center fielder Melky Cabrera, who scored on Sandoval’s first inning triple, added a few more runs in the fourth inning via a two-run homer, and earned All-Star Game MVP honors. And finally, there was Matt Cain, who started for the NL and pitched two shutout innings, allowing only one hit against while being awarded with the win.
All in all, Sandoval, Cabrera and Cain accounted for three of the National League’s hits, five of their runs, and the win. That is enough to earn them each a piece of the “Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
