Stat Line Of The Night — 7/10/12 — Giants’ All-Stars
Stat Line Of The Night — 7/15/12 — Yovani Gallardo
The Milwaukee Brewers entered yesterday looking to close the gap between themselves and the NL Central leading Pittsburgh Pirates, and they would do just that, thanks in large part to a stellar pitching performance from starter Yovani Gallardo.
Two-thirds of the outs recorded by Gallardo during his day on the mound came via strikeouts, as he notched a total of 14 punch-outs through seven innings of work. And when the Pirates’ hitters were getting their bat on Gallardo’s piches, they were unable to translate it into offensive production, as they recorded just four hits and one earned run against the righty during the Brewers’ 4-1 victory.
With his 14 stirkeouts against the Pirates, Gallardo now has 121 strikeouts on the season – good enough for seventh in the National League. He also earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, July 15, 2012.
