The Game: San Francisco Giants @ Atlanta Braves

The Pick: Giants +110

The Reason: The Giants enter tonight’s game having won four straight, while the Braves have won seven of their last eight. The Giants may be three games under .500 on the road this season, but the Braves’ .500 home record isn’t much better.

With both teams pretty evenly matched, we’ll roll the dice with the better pitcher, which just so happens to be the Giants’ Ryan Vogelsong.  His 7-4 record and 2.36 ERA trumps Mike Minor’s 5-6 record and 5.97 ERA.  With the Giants and Vogelsong at a plus in this game, we love the value and their chances of coming away with a victory.

The Game: Pittsburgh Pirates @ Colorado Rockies

The Pick: Pirates -120

The Reason: The Pirates have won 12 of their last 17 games, while the Rockies have won just five of their last 18 at home.  The Pirates have 15 more wins than the Rockies on the season, making it quite obvious that they are the better team.  And tonight, they send the much better starting pitcher to the mound, as James McDonald (9-3, 2.59 ERA) of the Pirates takes on Jeremy Guthrie (3-8, 6.42 ERA) of the Rockies.  With the better team and the better pitcher, we’ll go with the Pirates in this game.

2012 Record: (122-120-11), This Week: (2-2)
