Stat Line Of The Night — 7/17/12 — Barry Zito
Stat Line Of The Night — 7/18/12 — Cody Ross
While the Yankees continue to run away with top spot in the American League East, the other four teams in the division continue to fight for one of the AL’s two available Wild Card positions. One of those teams is the Boston Red Sox, and they were hoping to maintain their one-game deficit for the final Wild Card spot with a victory over the White Sox last night.
The Red Sox would accomplish exactly what they set out to do, thanks in large part to Cody Ross, as he recorded a double and two home runs in his five at bats. The result of that impressive performance at the plate would be three runs and six RBIs for Ross, and a 10-1 victory for the Red Sox over the White Sox.
With the win, Boston remains just one game back of the Detroit Tigers for the final Wild Card spot in the American League. As for Ross, he had what may very well be his best game of the 2012 season, and it earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
