Woman Crashes Indian Delegation’s Walk-In At Olympics Opening Ceremonies
Colombian Soccer Player Suspended Two Games For Sucker Punch That Gave Abby Wambach A Black Eye (Video)
All athletes representing their respective countries at the Olympics are expected to exude the qualities of sportsmanship and fair play while competing at the Games. Apparently, Lady Andrade of the Colombian women’s soccer team didn’t get that memo, as she demonstrated anything but sportsmanship and fair play when she punched American soccer star Abby Wambach in the face during the first half of their first round match on Saturday.
Wambach went down immediately after taking the shot from Andrade, and on Sunday she showed off her battle scar by posting the above image of her resulting black eye on her Twitter account.
That image, along with the video below, were all the evidence FIFA needed in order to determine that Andrade was worthy of a two-match ban for her actions. As for Wambach, she’s a trooper and isn’t expected to miss any time due to her newly acquired shiner.
Here is a look at how it all unfolded on the pitch during Sunday’s match (which the US won by a score of 3-0).
