The Game: Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals
The Reason: The Philadelphia Phillies enter tonight’s game having won six of their last nine overall, and each of their last three against the Nationals. Starting pitcher Cole Hamels is 11-5 on the season with a 3.31 ERA, and the Phils have won in four of his last five starts against Washington. After watching management give up on the season at the trade deadline, the Phillies’ players seemed to be rejuvenated over the past couple of days. Look for that to continue tonight, as they earn the victory against the Nationals.
The Game: Los Angeles Angels @ Texas Rangers
The Reason: Tonight we will all get our first look at Ryan Dempster in a Texas Rangers uniform, and he’ll have his work cut out for him as he takes on the hot bats of the Los Angeles Angels. Each of Dempster’s last three starts have gone under the total, as he has an impressive 2.25 ERA on the season. He will be up against Angels’ starter CJ Wilson, who has also been impressive, with a 9-7 record and a 2.88 ERA this season. The Rangers have gone under the total in 12 of their last 15 at home, and we expect them to go under the total once again tonight.
2012 Record: (131-131-11), This Week: (2-4), Last Week: (4-4)
