Stat Line Of The Night — 8/7/12 — Cole Hamels
The Philadelphia Phillies have been having themselves a terrible season by their standards, but for Phillies fans who are looking to take something positive away from 2012, they need not look any further than Cole Hamels’ performance on the mound.
Hamels has been having himself a solid 2012 campaign, and it continued last night against the Atlanta Braves, as he pitched his first complete-game shutout of the season, allowing only five hits and no walks against while striking out six during the Phillies’ 3-0 victory over their NL East foes.
As a result of that performance, Hamels now improves his record to 12-6 on the season, while lowering his ERA to a very respectable 3.14. He has been the Phillies’ most reliable pitcher this season, and he delivered once again last night, earning his team the win, while earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, August 7, 2012.
