marc panu surprise scholarshipVanderbilt senior walk-on Marc Panu has been a leader on the field through his first thee years as a Commodore, literally, as the fullback is often responsible for providing the lead block for his running back when his team is taking on some of the nation’s toughest defenses in the SEC.  It is a job that in most cases may not earn you much recognition, but not when you are playing for coach James Franklin.

Having been an offensive coach at the college and NFL levels for over ten years, Franklin knows when a player is bringing value to his team’s offense, and according to his analysis, Panu does just that.

So how does Franklin and the Vanderbilt staff reward players like Panu?  They provide them with a surprise scholarship and a standing ovation during a team meeting.
