It was on this day in 1993 that Nolan Ryan won his 324th game.  It would end up being the final win for Ryan during his Hall of Fame career.

Nolan Ryan and the Texas Rangers defeated the Cleveland Indians by a score of 4-1.  Ryan would play a few more games during the 1993 season, but on September 22, he tore a ligament in his throwing arm during a game in Seattle, which would effectively end his career two starts before he had originally planned.  After tearing his ligament, Ryan did throw one more pitch, which was clocked in at 98 m.p.h.  It was an impressive feat, considering only a few Major League pitchers could hit that speed on the radar gun with a healthy arm.

Ryan’s 324 wins rank him 14th all-time among Major League pitchers.  His seven no-hitters are the most ever recorded by a pitcher in their career, however, you may be surprised to hear that despite all the wins, strikeouts and no-hitters, Ryan was never able to win a Cy Young award during his 27-year career.
