Danica Patrick Ran Over A Shoe At Nationwide Race In Montreal (Video)
At this point, poor Danica Patrick has got to be wondering what else could go wrong this year.
Earlier in the season she was less than half a lap from a top-5 finish at Road America when she got rear ended by Jacques Villeneuve. Then last week, on the first turn at Watkins Glen, someone passed her on the infield grass and re-entered the track right in front her, causing a collisions that knocked her out of the race.
Nevertheless, Danica Patrick sat in 11th place in the NASCAR Nationwide standings heading into Saturday’s Napa Auto Parts 200 at le Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. So a strong finish would have helped her move up in the standings. And wouldn’t you know it—20 laps into the 74-lap race, she was in first place and looking good.
Then somebody decided to throw a shoe onto the track. Unfortunately for Danica, she ran over it, started having car trouble, and eventually had to retire from the race.
Not long after running over the shoe, it became obvious that Danica was having some steering issues, and a replay clearly showed a bracket come loose and fly out from underneath her car. After that, Patrick had to make a few different pit stops before a broken axel caused her to shut it down for good.

That’s some BS, isn’t it? I mean, who throws a shoe, honestly?
