Stat Line Of The Night — 8/19/12 — Aaron Hill
Aaron Hill has been having himself a solid second season with the Arizona Diamondbacks (acquired last year in a trade with the Jays), and it has been highlighted by a few memorable days at the plate. It began on April 7th, when Hill moved into the number two spot in the Diamondbacks’ lineup, and responded with two home runs and three RBIs against the Giants. Then, in June, he bacame the first player since Babe Herman in 1931 to hit for the cycle twice in one season, as he did so just eleven days apart (June 18th and 29th).
As for his latest impressive performance at the plate, it came during yesterday’s contest against the Astros. In five plate appearances, Hill recorded a double, two home runs, a walk, and two RBIs during the D-Backs’ 8-1 victory.
With a .298 average, 17 home runs and 54 RBIs on the season, Hill has been one of the D-Backs’ most reliable hitters (if not the most reliable hitter). That was certainly the case yesterday, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, August 19, 2012.
