Chael Sonnen Tells ESPN What He Really Thinks About Jon Jones’s Refusal To Fight Him At UFC 151 (Video)
Yesterday, UFC president Dana White had to cancel UFC 151 because challenger Dan Henderson had to pull out of his bout with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones due to a partial tear in his MCL.
Of course, they didn’t have to call off the event altogether. UFC asked everyone’s favorite MMA loudmouth Chael Sonnen to step in and face Jones, and Sonnen accepted. However, Jones did not.
So, you think Sonnen had anything to say about Jones’s refusal?
You bet he did! Yesterday he took to Twitter to voice his displeasure and taunt Jones.
First he said, “I KNOW you will never fight me. Don’t be afraid. But I’ll always be the monster in the closet of your mind, little JJ.”
Then, while the UFC (and the rest of the sports world) was waiting to here Jones’s decision, Sonnen tweeted, “30 min to cement your legacy. Champ or coward? I make a lot more money than you do…Show up in 8 days and I’ll give you my purse.”
And finally, following Jones’ refusal to accept the bout, Sonnen was nice enough to phone in to ESPN and give a quick interview. And trust me when I say that it was just about as entertaining as you’d expect a Sonnen interview to be. Check it out:
Jon Jones is “an entitled brat”? Nike will have to change their slogan to “Just Do Nothing”?
You can always count on Chael Sonnen to give you a colorful quote, or five.
