Every year, the soccer clubs that won Spain’s La Liga and Copa del Rey play a two-match set for the rights to the Supercopa de España. Thus, since Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid won La Liga last season, while Lionel Messi and Barcelona won the Copa del Rey, the 2012 Super Cup features a classic matchup that we haven’t seen since…well, since last year. The only thing different about the 2011 Supercopa de España was that Barcelona entered as league champions, while Madrid earned their spot as the Copa del Rey winners.

But hey, who needs variety, right? This matchup features arguably the two best players in the world going head to head, so it’s hard to complain.

Anyway, yesterday, Barcelona won the opening leg of the competition with a 3-2 victory at Camp Nou thanks to a PK goal from Messi with 20 minutes remaining in the match. And as we learned back in July when Spain won Euro 2012, Spanish soccer fans don’t like to sit off on the sidelines while the players celebrate on the field. They like to get in on the action themselves. So after his goal, Messi was joined on the pitch by a home fan trying to extend his congratulations.

Check it out:

Of course, it’s not shocking that soccer fans would think they can just run up to Messi and shake his hand whenever they want—at least, not after this happened a few weeks ago.
