Titans’ Marc Mariani Suffers Gruesome Leg Break (Video)
Every NFL player and coach goes through the entire preseason with their fingers crossed, praying that they can get through those four weeks injury-free. For most, their prayers will be answered, but there are always those select few that suffer the sad fate of going down with a gruesome season-ending injury during a meaningless game. Last night, during a preseason game between the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals, Titans’ kick-return specialist Marc Mariani was dealt that unfortunate card.
While returning a punt in the first quarter, the former Pro-Bowler got his ankle caught under a teammate’s leg while going to the ground, causing his leg to break in a rather nasty manner.
Mariani remained on the ground for several minutes as trainers stabilized his leg with an air cast and carted him off the field. It has since been reported that he suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his lower left leg and will likely miss the entire 2012 NFL season.
You can watch the gruesome footage in the video below (if you think your stomach can bear it).
