The NFL Replacement Refs Aren’t Doing Too Well, And It’s Pretty Hilarious (Videos)
In case you haven’t heard, the NFL announced yesterday that, since they have yet to reach a new deal with the NFL Referees Association, they will open the 2012 regular season with replacement referees. And, better yet, they said they are prepared to use them “as much…as necessary” after that.
Translation: this could be a long but hilarious football season. After all, the replacement refs haven’t exactly impressed a lot of people so far. A few weeks ago we told you about the replacement ref who kept calling Atlanta “Arizona.” And it seems they have only gotten worse since then.
Well, first off we have this situation in Jersey between the Giants and Patriots. Two flags were thrown during a Patriots kickoff after a field goal, but nobody—not the coaches, not the announcers, and not even the head referee—seems to know exactly what the flags were for, or who they were against.

Eventually, the poor replacement official, whose name just so happens to be Don King, got it all figured out and stuttered through his official announcement of the correction, which provided the Patriots players with a good laugh:
But Don King shouldn’t feel too bad. Check out this smooth officiating from the Redskins-Bucs game yesterday:
Yeah, let’s look at this routine play one more time, fellas.
I feel bad for these guys. They were thrown into an impossible situation—learning a new set of rules and procedures, then carrying them out under a magnifying glass. Still, you can’t help but have a few laughs at their expense.
