Stat Line Of The Night — 8/30/12 — Edwin Jackson
The Washington Nationals have a plethora of talented starting pitchers. Those that easily come to mind are Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez, but we also shouldn’t forget about Edwin Jackson. And for those who have forgotten about him, he was kind enough to provide us all with a simple reminder via a terriffic performance on the mound against the hard hitting St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cards entered the game with an impressive two-thirds of their line-up batting .300 or over, but they couldn’t muster much offence against Jackson, as he allowed just four hits, two walks and an unearned run, while striking out ten batters during the Nationals’ 8-1 victory.
It was only the second win for Jackson in six August starts, but he has been solid throughout the month, allowing more than three earned runs against on just one occasion. And now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, August 30, 2012.
