It was on this day in 1994 that the first two-point conversion was scored in an NFL game.  It was scored by Cleveland Browns’ kicker Tom Tupa during the first week of the regular season.

The American Football League had adopted the two-point conversion rule during its ten season, between 1960 and 1969, but the rule was discontinued following their merger with the National Football League.  It did not make a return to the NFL until 1994, when the league decided to bring it back.  And during a week one game against the Cincinnati Browns, Tupa became the first NFL player to record a two-point conversion when he ran in a fake extra-point attempt.  Tupa would go on to record a total of three two-point conversions during the 1994 season, earning him the nickname “Two Point Tupa.”
