Embarrassing Errors Cost Rockies Two Consecutive 1-0 Losses To The Braves (Video)
Good news, Astros fans. For once we have a montage of awful baseball that does not feature your team.
Yes, it turns out that the 2012 Colorado Rockies are also comically bad. Sure, they’re not as bad as the guys from Houston, who are 42-95. But the Rockies’ 56-80 record ain’t exactly good either. And this week they really outdid themselves.
What did they do? They lost two consecutive 1-0 games to the Braves, with both Atlanta runs coming on throwing errors by Colorado fielders.
The first came Wednesday night. With runners on first and second with nobody out in the bottom of the 4th, the Rockies botched a routine 4-5-3 double play, allowing Chipper Jones to trot home for the only run of the game.
And last night it got even worse. With runners on second and third with nobody out in the bottom of the 2nd, Rockies pitcher Jhoulys Chacin simply missed the toss from his catcher back to the mound, allowing Juan Francisco to sprint home.
Take a look:
If this isn’t rock-bottom for the Rockies, I don’t know what is.
Of course, neither of these plays is quite as bad as the incompetence they’re calling “baseball” in Houston this year, but it’s becoming awfully close.
